A fine half model of a steamer probably designed at Portmadoc late 19 th Century.

the inscription reads…Ship no. 15. Length 150 foot.  900 ton.

the model has legends showing various plate sizes to the hull

It was probably the design for a ship that was never built, as we can find no trace of her, or the architect , a Mr Godfrey Powell (we have no name for the ship, so are unable to go any further in tracing her. The museum curator at Porthmadog  states that many ships were designed in the area of Porthmadog–Borth Y Gest but this one would have been to big to be built there, but could have been designed for a local owner.
